As you will be aware the weather forecast for Monday and Tuesday is for extremely hot weather and Manchester now has a red weather warning.

School has received guidance from Manchester City Council and we will be following this to keep children and staff safe throughout the hot weather.

For the duration of this extreme weather the children will NOT be having PE lessons.

Time spent outside in the sun will be limited and playtimes adapted to allow children to spend time outside in the shade.

At lunchtime, each year group will have classrooms open for children to stay inside as well as supervising outdoor play in the shaded areas of the field.

Due to predicted high temperatures, Prize Giving will NOT go ahead on Tuesday 19th July. We will hold it on Monday 25th July. The times will be the same and further information will be sent out about the next week.

Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school, that can be refilled over the day. Please apply sun lotion before coming to school and school will have some available too. Please also send a cap or hat into school to wear outside.

Children may wear their school uniform or PE kit (shorts and t-shirt) on Monday and Tuesday, whichever they will feel most comfortable in - please make sure your child has a top that covers their shoulders e.g no vests or string tops.

Please do not send your child to school with jumpers or cardigans on Monday or Tuesday.

If you have any questions about this information, please email the school office at

    Kind regards,

    Mrs H Eken
