Welcome to 6H
Y6’s year started with the trip to Robinwood where the children threw themselves into a variety of activities including canoeing, caving, climbing and a variety of confidence and team building activities.
In Literacy this year we have split into different groups and have read a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts to help inspire our writing. In Numeracy we have been working hard to consolidate the learning we have done in years 1 – 5 so we are all prepared and ready for our SATS. This term we have looked at place value, ordering and comparing numbers, fractions, percentages and decimals.
We have also had fun in science where the focus has been on animal adaptation, we did some experiments to find out which shapes of bird’s beaks are better for eating certain types of food.
The children have all made some really good contributions and have been really focussed in their topic lessons on World War II and also in their RE lessons where we have been looking at the religion of ISLAM.
We have also celebrated some special days including a Peace Mala Day and Black History Month.
